ICAC always supports important initiatives that meet the needs of the professional community.
We are pleased to announce that the ICAC joined the Global Equal Representation in Arbitration Pledge* (the Pledge).
ICAC has consistently demonstrated a leading role in gender parity among such global arbitration institutions, which have also joined the Pledge, such as: ICC, LCIA, SCC, VIAC, HKIAC, SIAC, DIS, ICDR.
37,4 of woman-arbitrators were involved in the consideration of the ICAC cases in 2018. While, according to the statistics of the aforementioned arbitration institutions, the number of female arbitrators involved in the consideration was only 12-27%.
*In recognition of the under-representation of women on international arbitral tribunals, in 2015 members of the arbitration community drew up a pledge to take action (the Pledge). The Pledge seeks to increase, on an equal opportunity basis, the number of women appointed as arbitrators in order to achieve a fair representation as soon practically possible, with the ultimate goal of full parity.
