ICAC’s Vice President Yuliya Chernykh presented at a high-profile UNCITRAL panel discussion “ COVID-19 Impact on International Dispute Resolution” jointly with the representatives of other leading international arbitration institutions of the world, including the arbitration institutions of Austria, Sweden, the UK, China and South Korea.
Ms Chernykh highlighted that the access to up-to-date digital instruments for administrating and considering cases defined the level of resilience of an arbitration institution to external challenges. She only noted that to efficiently respond to external challenges, an arbitration institution needed to adjust its operations fast and do it in the most comfortable way for the arbitration services users. Ms Chernykh highlighted some of ICAC’s recent statistics relating to H1 2020. In particular she emphasized that ICAC’s case load increased by 68% during that period, while the duration of case consideration remained unaffected by the pandemic.
