The International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICAC) has successfully launched a new international project — Inside Arbitration — a series of expert talks about arbitration.
Inside Arbitration is an open format of online dialogues, where the chairman and employees of ICAC can be a presenter, and among guests can be professional lawyers, arbitrators, judges, representatives of business communities and users of ICAC services from different countries.
The first live issue of Inside Arbitration was on June 4 and focused on the development of arbitration in the Eastern Europe. During the online conversation the invited speakers shared their thoughts on current state of the arbitration in their jurisdictions, legal regulation of the arbitration, number of arbitration institutions and competition in the Eastern Europe. During the discussion, speakers focused on the judicial policy aspects in these countries, namely the promotion of arbitration, the level of challenged arbitral awards and opportunities for their enforcement. Speakers also discussed operation of the Eastern European arbitration institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the outlook for the future development of arbitration.
The first event was moderated by Mykola Selivon, ICAC President. His interlocutors were:
- Piotr NOWACZYK — fellow of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) (London), Member of AIPPI and INTA, Expert of WIPO.
- Alexandre KHRAPOUTSKI — Partner at Lex Torre Law Office, Senior Lecturer of the Chair of Civil Law at the Law Faculty of Belarusian State University.
- Asko POHLA — M. Chairman of the Arbitration Court of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
