Upon the proposal of the Presidium of the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Ukrainian CCI (the ICAC), the Presidium of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry issued the decision “On Approval of the ICAC and UMAC Recommendatory Lists of Arbitrators” No. 15(2) dated 14 December 2023 that approved the updated ICAC Recommendatory List of Arbitrators for 2024 – 2028.

The ICAC Recommendatory List of Arbitrators includes 115 experienced scholars and practicing lawyers recommended in the field of arbitration by authoritative international rankings Chambers & Partners, Legal 500 and Who’s Who Legal. The ICAC Recommendatory List of Arbitrators includes arbitrators from 38 countries, 62% of arbitrators are foreign nationals, and 38% of arbitrators are Ukrainians.

What’s new?

The expanded geography of arbitrators. For the first time, the ICAC Recommendatory List of Arbitrators includes arbitrators from Egypt, Greece, Israel, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Cyprus, Switzerland. 

The possibility to filter arbitrators by specialization. The ICAC website now offers an option to filter arbitrators not only by language and nationality, but also by specialization (18 specializations). The updated ICAC Recommendatory List of Arbitrators has significantly expanded the number of arbitrators experienced in investment, construction and IT disputes.

Gender equality. The ICAC has retained its committment to gender equality. About 30% of the arbitrators on the updated Recommendatory List are female. Over the past 5 years, the ICAC has been demonstrating sustainable leadership in gender equality according to the Equal Representation in Arbitration Pledge survey.

For reference: pursuant to the provisions of Article 6 of the ICAC Rules, the ICAC Recommendatory List of Arbitrators is updated every five years.
