On 10 October 2025, we will be pleased to welcome all colleagues, arbitrators, partners and friends of the ICAC to the XII Annual International Arbitration Readings in Memory of Academician Igor Pobirchenko.

This year’s declared theme – “Ukraine as a Seat of Arbitration. A Contemporary Dimension of Efficiency” – has been chosen with a view to exploring Ukraine’s potential as a jurisdiction with a unique pro-arbitration climate in comparison with other arbitration hubs.

In the context of European integration, continued development and reconstruction of Ukraine’s economy, as well as the growing role of arbitration in ensuring the effective protection of investors’ rights, the issue of Ukraine’s attractiveness as an arbitration jurisdiction acquires particular significance. The theme of the conference is intended to assess the current state of institutional, procedural, and enforcement efficiency of arbitration, taking into account the best international standards and practices.

This year, the Conference Programme will address the following topics:

• Criteria for choosing a jurisdiction as the seat of arbitration: traditionalism or modernism?
• Ukraine as a seat of arbitration: reflections on the first quarter of the 21st century, current trends, and long-term objectives;
• Legislative developments and the expansion of the competence of international arbitration seated in Ukraine;
• Key elements of Ukraine’s success as a pro-arbitration jurisdiction and the role of state courts in shaping a favourable arbitration climate;
• Landmark legal positions of the Supreme Court in the performance by state courts of their supportive and supervisory functions in arbitration;
• The challenge of arbitral awards as a key factor in shaping a pro-arbitration climate;
• Enhancing the efficiency of dispute resolution through arbitration.
